What are the Apple and Google Certifications and why should I care?
Both Apple and Google offer online certifications for educators. This means that educators who take the time to learn how to use either Apple or Google products such as certain apps on the iPad or Google Suite products, can take tests and earn a certificate in either Apple or Google. Read below for the benefits of both.
Apple offers a program called Apple Teacher. If you have an iCloud account then you already have an account with Apple Teacher. All you need to do is log on to Apple Teacher (it will ask you for a school, but if you do not currently teach then you can say OSU). Once you have created your Apple Teacher account, you can explore the website and find many different badges. These badges cover Mac and iPad applications such as Pages and Garage Band. Each badge has a part where you can learn how to use the application in an education setting and once you feel confident in your abilities you can take a quiz for that badge. Every badge has a quiz that can be taken multiple times until you pass. After you have completed each badge for either Mac or iPad you will receive your Apple Teacher certification. If you complete both Mac and iPad you can earn an extra certificate in Coding for both.
What's Kappa Kappa Iota's Connection to Apple Teacher?
Kappa Kappa Iota encourages educators (pre-service and currently teaching) to obtain the Apple Teacher certification for the benefit of their professional knowledge. This certification looks great on a resume. As a campus organization, Kappa Kappa Iota tries to commit to one help session per semester to assist educators in completing their badges. Our hope is that if Freshmen begin working on their badges at meetings that they would complete the certificate by the time they graduate.

Level 2 means you are advance and have taken even more time to really learn how to integrate Google products into your classroom. The basic test costs $10.
Additionally, Google offers a Certified Trainer Program, Certified Innovator Program, and a Certified Coach Program for those educators who want to take their skills to the next level and teach their skills to others.
